Transitions rooted in the Global South as a commitment to justice and collective healing

Spiral of Justice & Healing is an initiative that brings together lessons and recommendations emerging from more than three years of close accompaniment to feminist leaders from Abya Yala and the Global South.
This platform gathers collective knowledge that places care and sustainability at the center, understanding healing and justice as a political strategy to reimagine power and transform structures of oppression.
Beyond a reformist agenda, Spiral of Justice & Healing embraces systemic transformation as a political pathway to weave new futures and positions feminist leadership transitions rooted in the Global South—not only as a historical debt, but as a commitment to justice and collective healing.
There are transitions within transitions—tides opening inside other tides. Not every transition leads us toward justice. Not every change frees us. Some transformations unsettle, disorient, or echo the very violences they claim to leave behind. So we are asked to choose: where we place our energy, which processes we support, which worlds we help co-create, is to take responsibility for shaping the course of our shared tides. It is to recognize that every gesture, every act of care, every boundary, and every dream are also currents. Transitioning is inevitable. But the meaning we give to movement is a contribution to the present, the future, and the past we inhabit.
To choose where we channel our energy in moments of transition, in the tides of change, is to shape the present, and to breathe life into the past and future we are building and dreaming
Report: Spiral of Justice & Healing
The Spiral of Justice & Healing report documents the learnings from more than three years of accompaniment of Latin American feminist leaders. It includes an analysis of the contexts in which leadership transitions unfold, insights from decolonial accompaniment processes, and recommendations to support transitions that advance justice, collective care, and sustainability.

What is transition?
If not the whisper of change,
weaving new roads,
step by step,
generation after generation,
from territory to territory,
like roots that do not ask permission,
but spring forth with living and present memory.
What is transition,
when it is rooted in the Global South?
A historic debt.
A pressing demand.
A spiral that seizes power,
history interrupted.
To return.
Song: Spiral of Life
What is transition? It's the land, it's the community.
Power, memory, a historic debt.
The return and the spiral that begins again.
justice and healing, the center and the root.
Oracle: Spiral of Transitions
Whales have moved through this world for more than 50 million years. They are mammals, like human beings, who once learned to leave the land and enter the ocean—reshaping their bodies without ever losing their essence. They remind us: to transition is not to abandon who we have been, but to transform it. Their communal way of life and their ability to navigate guided by collective memory embody what it means to move through change with depth, awareness, and connection. Their songs carry history, knowledge, and direction—passed boldly from one generation to the next, preserving wisdom and power across time.
The Spiral of Transitions Oracle emerges from the wisdom of whales and feminist movements from the Global South. This oracle brings together learnings, revelations, and spells to accompany transformations of the past, the present, and possible futures. Because transitioning is not a single moment. It is the very condition of being alive.
Everything changes.
Everything moves.
Everything evolves.

Gratitude & Acknowledgments
Spiral of Justice & Healing emerges from many waters and currents; it is woven in relationship with the diverse ecosystems that live and breathe in interconnection. Its wisdom and trajectory are nourished by social movements, feminist activisms, and the territories of the Global South— past, present, and future.
We dedicate it to the wisdom of the whales, who, through their traces in the ocean, invite us to remember our own power. We also dedicate it to the leaders and movements of the Global South who have inhabited and moved through spaces of power—challenging and transforming structures of privilege, and guiding us, step by step, toward justice and diverse forms of healing - from the personal to the collective.
We do not name a specific individual as a political choice: we honor the interspecies and collective nature of this wisdom, woven from practices, memories, and knowledge passed down through generations.
